Dear Valued Customer
The effect of the Covid 19 Virus is now becoming apparent in Iraq and now starting to affect the business in Um Qasr. Basra has been under curfew for two weeks with an instruction the port must remain open.
This has been effective and BGT has operated normally, and we still expect to do so.
Customs and IPA have also been operational but due to the curfew in Basra, unfortunately, the shipping and clearing agents have been finding it increasingly difficult to get the documentation together to clear the cargo and also the banks have also been closed, hindering payments.
BGT has been working on the assumption that the curfew would be lifted this weekend so work could get back to normal. We have just heard the curfew has just been extended to April 10th to try and combat the effects of the virus, and as such virtually any clearance of import containers has dried up. Presently there is a lot of cargo still being discharged at berth 20, and with no deliveries happening, Berth 20 yards are reaching their full capacity.
However, we have ample space on BGT East, so unless the Government relaxes the rules to allow banks to open and clearance to commence in the next few days, regretfully we have no choice but to receive all container vessels on berths 25/26/27 from Wednesday 1st April onwards until deliveries recommence from Berth 20.
We will assist with Customs support as required for clients. This is due to a situation completely outside our control. We hope you understand and together we will work through these challenges.

تأثير فيروس الكورونا بدأ يظهر الآن في العراق و بدأنا نرى تأثيره على العمليات في أم قصر
كانت البصرة تحت حظر التجوال لمدة أسبوعين مع بإستنثاء إن الميناء يبقى مفتوح بتعليمات من وزير النقل
.هذا القرار فعال و محطة بوابة البصرة مستمرة بالعمل بشكل طبيعي، و نتوقع بإننا سنستمر بفعل ذلك
كما تستمر هيئة الموانئ العراقية و الجمارك بالعمل ولكن بسبب حظر التجول في البصرة ،يجد وكلاء الشحن والتخليص صعوبة متزايدة في
الحصول على الوثائق معًا لتخليص البضائع ، كما تم إغلاق البنوك أيضًا ، مما أعاق عملية الدفع
كانت محطة بوابة البصرة على افتراض أن حظر التجوال سيزال في نهاية هذا الأسبوع حتى يعود العمل إلى طبيعته. لقد وصلنا خبر للتو أن حظر
التجول قد تم تمديده حتى 10 أبريل لمحاولة مكافحة آثار الفيروس ، وعلى هذا النحو فقد إختفت إمكانية التخليص لحاويات الاستيراد
في الوقت الحاضر ، لا يزال هناك الكثير من البضائع التي يتم تفريغها عند الرصيف 20 تخصمحطة بوابة البصرة ، وعلى هذا النحو مع عدم حدوث عمليات تخليص للحاويات ، فإن ساحات رصيف 20 للأسف قد وصلت إلى السعة
ومع ذلك ، لدينا مساحة كبيرة في الجهة الشرقية لمحطة بوابة البصرة ، لذلك مع الأسف وما لم تقم الحكومة بتخفيف القواعد للسماح للبنوك بالفتح و بدء التخليص في الأيام القليلة المقبلة ، ليس لدينا خيار سوى أن و من الأربعاء المصادف 1 أبريل - سيتم استلام جميع بواخر الحاويات في الأرصفة 25/26/27 حتى استئناف عمليات التخليص من الرصيف 20
